TECHNOLOGY
Our philosophy is to invest in leading edge First World technology that can provide sustainable flexibility, cost and speed advantages. To this end, the past decade has seen us investing approximately R175m in plant and equipment resulting in the most modern plant infrastructure of its kind in South Africa.

Paper sacks and bags
Following a R50million investment during 1998 and a further R60m in 2008, Afripack has two fully automated, high speed sack lines supplied by Windmoeller and Holscher of Germany. The investment in latest conversion technology enables both high levels of product quality and low levels of waste. Our plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekwith a realistic capacity of 140 million sacks per annum. This capacity enables us to compete effectively in both local and export markets.

Flexographic printing and extrusion coating
A R60m investment program, run over a 4 year period, has seen the establishment of our industrial flexible business. This investment comprised 2 quality gearless 8 colour flexographic presses, several modern high speed slitters and a plastic extrusion line. We have focused predominantly on flexible paper based products and as a result have developed substantial expertise in this area.

We already enjoy sole and/or preferred supplier status with several Blue Chip customers and are planning for continued growth in this market.

Key to our success is the quality of our people. Our philosophy has been to develop a very specific culture within Afripack. Our culture is characterised by empowerment, ownership, a high degree of transparency and trust, customer performance and action orientation, flat organizational structures and fast decision making. Both customer and employee satisfaction levels are measured annually and full feedback is given. We have also invested considerable resources in developing a successful internal training programme.
